This vocal collective features Trist Curless, Janis Siegel, and Mark Kibble coming together to sing the music of one of vocal jazz’s most beloved groups. The vision of this group is to mix and match voices, so that each time you experience the collective, you’ll hear the brilliance of Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross in the unique blend that comes with each combination. The live show is a tribute to LH&R classics as well as individual performances, all perpetuating the art of vocalese.
Christie Dashiell
Washington, DC-born and North Carolina-raised vocalist and composer Christie Dashiell lives at the musical crossroads
of jazz, rhythm and blues, gospel and soul. Known for her improvisational prowess and effortlessly rich and clear tone,
she has become one of the most sought-after artists on the scene today. Growing up in a musical family, Christie has been
singing all of her life. She is the third of four multi-talented and musical children of jazz bassist, Carroll Dashiell, Jr. Her
musical lineage is deeply rooted.
Christie is a graduate of Howard University and the Manhattan School of Music. While at Howard, Christie sang in the
university’s premier vocal jazz ensemble, Afro-Blue. As a member of the Afro-Blue, she appeared on NBC’s “The Sing
Off.” She has twice received recognition in DownBeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards as Outstanding Soloist and Best
Vocalist in the Graduate College division and was selected as a semifinalist in the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute
International Vocals Competition.
In 2016, Dashiell released her debut solo album, Time All Mine, debuting on Billboard’s Jazz Album and Contemporary
Jazz Album Charts at numbers thirteen (13) and twenty-two (22), as well as JazzTimes’ Top 50 Writer’s Ballots, Critics’
Poll. In addition to performing with her quartet, she works with many artists including Grammy-Nominated vocal
ensemble, Sweet Honey in the Rock. She has appeared as a featured artist on Blue Note Record’s, Supreme Sonacy,
Marquis Hill’s album, The Way We Play, Wynton Marsalis’ work, “The Ever Fonky Lowdown” with Wynton Marsalis
and The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and most recently the social-justice compilation album, Black Lives: From
Generation to Generation. She has been seen in concert on various national and international stages including, Jazz at
Lincoln Center Shanghai, The Baku Jazz Festival in Azerbaijan, and Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo. Dashiell is on
faculty at Temple University, Howard University and The University of the District of Columbia.
Christie’s long-awaited sophomore album features seven original compositions and two arrangements that explore themes
of freedom, legacy, grief and joy. Funded in part by Chamber Music America’s Performance Plus Grant, the collection of
music fuses the sounds of improvised music and various styles of Black American Music. Titled Journey in Black, the
album boasts a stellar cast of musicians, including Shedrick Mitchell, Marquis Hill, Allyn Johnson, Romeir Mendez and
Carroll Dashiell, III with creative guidance from NEA Jazz Master, Dianne Reeves.

The Band
Chris Brown

Christopher Brown is an acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader, and educator who seeks to be a voice within the advocacy of Jazz music and American culture. And through the expansive range of groups that he has assembled and/or performed with—which range from duos to Jazz big bands to military marching bands and orchestras—his musical and personal experiences have led him towards an interest in synthesizing the principles of Jazz music with the day-to-day practicalities of life. However, given that businesses shape the global market economy that everyone lives and participates in, is why he has found it useful to integrate business philosophies with that of music to help develop himself and his band. Which as he likes to say, “we’re all in the same business…the people-trusting-people business. No people, no business.”
Born and raised in Portland, OR Christopher’s life in music was cultivated at an early age between his father, Mel Brown, and the healthy culture of Jazz that surrounded him in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. And as such, he’d go on to garner numerous local, state, and national awards, one of which was having been a part of a trio that won the top high school small group award by Down Beat Magazine in 1995. And other memorable events included things such as sitting in with people such as Wynton Marsalis on their performances, and being cast as an extra in the 1993 movie “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” starring Richard Dreyfuss.
Christopher holds two degrees in Jazz studies from Rutgers University, followed by a four-year appointment as a professor of Jazz theory and history from his alma mater. He has also had the pleasure of teaching as an artist in-residence within Wells Fargo’s “NJPAC Jazz For Teens” program (NJ), Mt. Hood Jazz Camp (OR), Mel Brown Jazz Camp (OR), Litchfield Jazz Camp (CT), Rutgers Summer Jazz Institute (NJ), Montclair Jazz Camp (NJ), and the International Summer Music Camp (Brno, Czech Republic). Christopher currently teaches as the Jazz Drums instructor at Portland State University (OR), in addition to a course that he co-created for PSU’s MBA program entitled “Business Innovation Through Jazz Improvisation.” And lastly, he directs the Metropolitan Youth Symphony’s (OR) Jazz program.
Michael Glynn
Born in Seattle, Michael Glynn began playing bass at the age of 11. Beginning his jazz studies with former Count Basie and Louis Armstrong bassist Buddy Catlett, Michael starting working professionally while still a student at Garfield High School, where he played for four years in that school’s renowned jazz band. After two years in engineering school at Columbia University in New York City, Michael returned to Seattle where he graduated summa cum laude in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Washington, where he studied under Doug Miller and Barry Lieberman.
Moving to Albuquerque in 2006, he quickly established himself as an integral part of the New Mexico music scene, performing and recording extensively, and also making time to earn his Master of Music degree from the University of New Mexico, studying with Mark Tatum. In 2012 Michael moved to the Palo Alto for a year where he worked with musicians all around the Bay Area and was on the faculty of the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
In addition to performing with countless local musicians throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, and New Mexico, Glynn has performed with jazz legends including Bud Shank, Jon Hendricks, Bobby Shew, Mark Levine, Dave Grusin, Geoffrey Keezer, Seamus Blake, Eric Alexander, David Hazeltine, Benny Green, Gary Smulyan, Don Lanphere, Conte Candoli, Bob Florence, Doug Lawrence, William Parker, Kevin Hays, Kim Richmond, Aaron Parks, Madeline Eastman, Dena DeRose, and the Cab Calloway Orchestra. Michael has performed around the United States and in Canada, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Oman, and Trinidad and Tobago. On top of his jazz work, Michael performs in a variety of other genres, including classical work with the New Mexico Philharmonic, the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Opera Southwest, and Canticum Novum Santa Fe, calypso with steel drum legend Ray Holman, and a mix of Arabic and Western music with Iraqi-American oud virtuoso Rahim Al Haj.
Michael currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

Chris McCarthy

Known for his “high skill and sensitivity,” (NYTimes) Chris McCarthy is one of the most in demand pianists in New York City. McCarthy has developed a reputation as “one of the most imaginative and impressive voices on the New York jazz scene” (Hot House Jazz Magazine). Early accolades included the 2012 Gerald Wilson Award for big band composition at the Monterey Jazz Festival. After playing with Jerry Bergonzi and Jason Palmer’s working bands in Boston for several years, he moved to New York in 2016 and has been collaborating with artists from around the world in NYC ever since. He released his debut for Ropeadope Records Still Time To Quit in 2020. The album received widespread critical praise, including the #3 slot in Paul Rauch’s “Best Local Jazz Albums of 2020” for Seattle Times.
McCarthy is known for his sensitive accompanying of vocalists, working with many of New York’s finest. McCarthy is also active in the world music scenes, touring with Carnatic vocalist Roopa Mahadevan and Gnawa musician Samir Langus. His playing is featured on albums by rising stars such as vibraphonist Sasha Berliner, (Azalea 2019) and saxophonist Eden Bareket (Day Dream, 2021). In 2021 his playing was featured on BBC Radio 1 and drummer Questlove’s social media. He currently plays in legendary tap dancer Dormeshia’s new show “Rhythm is Life,” a New York Times Critic’s pick. He also tours with the Mark Morris Dance Company’s newest production, “The Look of Love.” McCarthy released his piano trio project Priorities (Fresh Sound Records) in May 2022, featuring Chris Tordini on bass and Steven Crammer on drums. In 2024, his duo album with vocalist Vanisha Gould Life’s a Gig received a 4.5/5 review from Downbeat magazine, calling the record an “instant classic.” His newest ensemble is a quintet featuring Takuya Kuroda, Eden Bareket, Sam Minaie and Steven Crammer, with plans to record in the summer of 2024 after an extensive west coast tour.
Jake Bergevin
Jake Bergevin has enjoyed a life contributing to the thriving Seattle Area Jazz Community. He has rerecorded two albums as leader and has been a featured artist with diverse groups such as the Tacoma Symphony, the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra, The Spokane Symphony and many more.
Mr. Bergevin leads groups including the Javatown Swing Orchestra and the Jazz Punishments Big Band. A successful music teacher, Jake is currently the Department Chair and Director of Bands at Edmonds-Woodway High School. Under his direction the EWHS Jazz Ensemble is a five-time finalist in the prestigious Essentially Ellington Festival held in New York City. He was hired into the Edmonds School District by Frank DeMiero!
Jake is a founding member of the Edmonds Jazz Walk. He has held leadership positions with the IAJE, WMEA and Centrum Jazz Port Townsend.
